First Blood is a 1982 American action film directed by Ted Coat Chef and co-written by Sylvester Stallone, starring Vietnam War veteran John Rambo. It features Richard Crenna and Brian Denny, and is the first installment in the Rambo franchise, followed by Rambo: First Blood Part II.

The film is based on David Morrell's 1972 novel of the same name. In the film, Rambo, a troubled and misunderstood veteran, has to rely on his sense of struggle and survival against the abominable law enforcement in Hop, a small town in Washington.

First Blood was released on October 22, 1982 in the United States. Despite initial mixed reviews, the film was a box office success, grossing 125 125.2 million at the box office. In 1985, it also became the first Hollywood blockbuster to be released in China, holding the record for most tickets sold for an American film by 2018. Since its release, First Blood has been re-used by critics, featuring many characters. It is known as an influential film of Stallone, Denia and Crenna, and action genre.

The film's success created a franchise, consisting of four sequels (all co-written and starring Stallone), an animated television series and comic books, novels, video games, as well. There was also a Bollywood remake.
